HRF
announces new "Preservation's Silent Partner Awards"
at
our Annual Preservation Week Reception on May 7th
HRF will also publicly announce a new major preservation initiative
Event
details and RSVP
Historic Richmond Foundation (HRF) will recognize preservation's
silent partners that have been instrumental in assisting HRF with
its mission to preserve Richmond's architectural character on
May 7th, 2003. The new awards will be presented at HRF's annual
Preservation Week celebration at the Carillon Reception Hall in
Byrd Park. The event is open to the public and costs $15 per person
for the reception sponsored by the William Byrd Branch of the
Association of the Preservation for Virginia Antiquities.
HRF felt it appropriate to launch a new and different type of
awards program associated with local preservation. Not that the
usual project and player awards programs done by HRF and other
organizations from time to time aren't worthwhile, but HRF wanted
to recognize local individuals and organizations who by virtue
of their commonly known professions, businesses or personal inclinations
are not generally known as supporters of historic preservation
or to be 'preservationists'. Further, they hardly ever, if ever,
make any money at all in support of preservation.
These folks and organizations are what HRF is calling 'Preservation's
Silent Partners'. They are part of the bedrock of preservation
successes in Richmond, some of those successes would have been
either extremely difficult or impossible without their involvement.
HRF's Preservation's Silent Partners have and continue to contribute
time, expertise, resources or other support that significantly
benefits preservation projects, and in turn, Richmond's character.
True to the name, some of the Silent Partners want to remain silent.
Those who have elected to remain silent have expressed their gratitude
for HRF's offer of public recognition.
The intent of HRF's Silent Partners award is to encourage those
partners to maintain their invaluable support and to make the
larger community aware of the depth and span of preservation advocates.
HRF plans to follow this program with future awards as worthy
candidates either emerge or as others continue to support historic
preservation.
HRF
will also publicly announce a major new preservation initiative
to the preservation community.
